Graham spent his first night in the castle tonight! We bumped him up to the loft bed to make more floor space in preparation for Apryl, Adam, and Hazel's visit, but he is very excited about his new sleep spot and seems happy, safe, and cozy up there.

Graham was engrossed by a live children's theater show this morning. Meanwhile, Baby Powder ate a gallon of frozen blueberries. The boys love to stand on chairs or the step stool and snack off the counter while I desperately try to prep food fast enough for them.

Graham is preparing for Thanksgiving by making "turkey chicken" place cards for our guests. His preparation put him ahead of his parents, who are not exactly planning a DIY holiday feast. Graham's favorites are the "silly turkeys," which are the ones with 3 eyes or noses on their foreheads.

Therese's e-mail of the week, entitled, "He put in his thumb":
And he took out a plum.
The children voted to make our family tree into a plum tree. They named some fruit trees to vote on; apple, banana, orange, plum and pear. So we set to work making plums. We mixed two colors carefully til we thought it resembled a plum color and then painted. We added stems and our family photos. The fruit will be hung on the tree with care on the day of our feast next week.
During yoga we heard laughter, running footsteps, frozen feet, quietness, and then silence.
Speaking of quiet time, ours has been restful.
We read The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle and noticed the purple plums. We also read Red, Yellow, Green And Blue and looked around to see who was wearing purple. We read Little Boy Horner and Each Peach Pear Plum. We read every book we could find about plums and the color purple. We talked about purple people eaters and listened to the song. We tried to listen to Purple Rain but Prince wouldn't cooperate.
Friday we made new play dough. Guess what two colors we put in?
Our family plums look delicious. Our Thanksgiving feast will begin Wednesday at 11:15am. We will make sweet potatoes, corn muffins and butter.
Day Born story reminder.
We will also begin family shares after Thanksgiving. Any family member can come in and read a book, sing a song, show a photo, share a recipe, or pretty much anything else your family would like to share. We will have them during circle at about 9:45am. Talk to us to schedule a day.
Happy weekend,
Therese

It turns out that the best way to get your kids to eat veggies is to let them hover at the kitchen counter while you make dinner and let their hunger get the best of them while the carb/cheese main course cooks.

Connor discovered a bag of cat treats and amused himself for a long time doling them out to Marlon. He continues to be fascinated by cats and always points them out in books.

The boys had a great time playing with Lily and Jacob this afternoon, and then lucked out by getting Lauren, who is a professional storyteller, to read to them. Connor wears one of those Mardi Gras bead necklaces at every opportunity.
