Today is Connor's "inside-out" birthday--he's been out of the womb as long as he was in it.  Seeing him get around this well makes me think he was in there a little too long.

2 years, 11 months/40 weeks, 3 days.

Connor had his 9-month doctor appointment today.  He's doing great and is still a tall drink of water (29" tall, 71%; 19 lb, 4 oz, 26%, 45.5 cm head circumference, 53%).  Just in case of any unpleasantness like anaphylactic shock, we have been holding off on giving him nuts, but after having a bite of Graham's PB&J at the doctor's office, he's clear for everything other than honey.  We celebrated over banana nut muffins.

Graham gets excited about the cake and goodie bags at birthday parties.  Connor's just after the pizza.  Happy birthday Bennett!

Connor hasn't taken to sucking his thumb like Graham, but he is definitely attached to this little blanket Grammy knit for him.  He sucks on it to help him go to sleep.  Whatever works!

Graham built this house for Super Grover while Connor was nursing.

Graham wanted to make a snowman today but Connor doesn't last too long in the cold (I can't blame him--brrrr!) so we compromised.

2 years, 11 months/39 weeks, 2 days (9 months!).

Happy 3/4 birthday, Connor!  Connor is demonstrating his favorite trick of the moment--stretching his arms out, squeezing his hands into fists, and growling like a tiny baby hulk.  He does this whenever he's excited--Daddy comes home--or wants something--Mama's water glass.

Finally, we had enough sun to dry out the nature park and go play there.  Connor spent our trip eating leaves and sticks--his two upper central incisors have just broken through.  4 teeth and counting!

Graham and Sam tackled the climbing wall at Vivian's birthday party today.  (Meanwhile, cousin Molly was taking on much greater heights--please take us climbing the next time we visit, Uncle Bob!)  Connor wasn't quite ready for the wall, but he did eat more pizza than Sam or Graham.

2 years, 10 months/37 weeks, 5 days.

Connor and I did our first parent helper shift at Graham's school today.  It was great to see him in action making friends and being engaged with the classroom activities--he seems to have transitioned to his new class really smoothly.  Connor was mesmerized by all the big kids running around and did just fine skipping his morning nap.  See the video for a progress report on his crawling.

Graham's new school is taught by an artist who has strong feelings about how children should be introduced to creating art.  They paint on Tuesdays, do collage on Wednesdays, and sculpt on Thursdays.

Graham didn't ask for his old school today.

We braved NYC's coldest January 7 ever (5 degrees, "feels like" -14) to take Graham to his first day at his new preschool.  I think his painting was worth it, but have a feeling Connor wouldn't agree.  Graham reported liking his new school, his teacher Miss Laura, and the apple muffin he got for snack.  He did request to go to his old school tomorrow.

Graham and I snuck in a second day of sledding before the drizzling rain stole all the snow.  Graham has a lot of invisible friends right now--Elmo was along for the whole trip.  Graham insists on his friends being spoken to and replying in funny voices (Daddy's Elmo voice is preferred but mine will do in a pinch).

After nap time, we headed to Kidville for Noah's birthday party.  Luckily, Connor's lady friend Charlotte was around for him to hang out with.  Thanks Grammy and Uncle Peter for the hand-me-down sweater!

Off to the park for some sledding fun!  Graham took a few tandem rides before surprising us all by taking off solo.  Connor didn't care much for the cold but was happy to do some table dancing with Daddy once everyone was back home.

2 years, 10 months/36 weeks, 6 days.

Snow day!  It's too cold to venture far from home, so we joined our neighbor Spencer on the roof deck for some snow angels and tramping through the snow.  Graham loved it; Spencer and Connor were pretty skeptical.  Graham also loved his apres snow hot chocolate; Connor had to make do with bean soup.  Thanks for the gloves, Grammy!
