Graham had a blast at gym class open play this afternoon. His favorite activity is rolling down the ramps and giggling like a crazy person. He also likes the trampoline but doesn't understand that it's for jumping, not running. It's impossible to take a crisp picture of him at the gym because he's in constant motion.

Graham celebrated Memorial Day in the traditional manner, grilling out with friends. While the grown-ups chatted, Phoebe crushed watermelon and Graham scarfed it down.

Less happily, Graham also had to say farewell to Uncle Keith, who is moving to Portland this week. We'll all miss you, Keith.

Today, we toured a few ships docked in Brooklyn for fleet week. Graham loved the helicopter on the Japanese destroyer and didn't want to get out when our turn was up.

We kicked off Memorial Day weekend with a trip to a family farm in New Jersey for some strawberry & sugar snap pea pickin'. Our day followed a predictable pattern--Daddy picks the strawberries; Graham eats the strawberries; Daddy picks the peas; Graham eats the peas.

Graham waited under Rowan's high chair for her to toss him extras (Rowan has a dog and so is an expert at this maneuver) at today's playgroup.

Graham was very excited to have his friend Noah come over to play on this rainy day. Noah is one of Graham's favorite friends. They spent Noah's whole visit tackling each other and laughing.

Graham played at the sandbox after going for a swim at the Y. Graham and Daddy are taking swim class on Saturdays, so we try to practice up during the week.

Graham's vocabulary is expanding--he says "bye" and "more".

Graham was in high spirits at playgroup today, trying on Bella's bow and wildly waving around a balloon.

Sunday, May 20, 2012

66 weeks, 2 days.

Graham had the best weekend hanging out with Nana while we went on some child-free adventures of our own. Nana taught Graham "fast feet" and to shake his finger "no no no." Graham has been having some separation-anxiety issues recently, but seemed totally fine with his Nana. Thanks for spending the weekend with us, Beth!

We had to go to Manhattan for a doctor's appointment, so decided to sneak in a trip to Central Park as long as we were making the journey.

Graham tried out the kid computer at the library for the first time this morning. He was absolutely mesmerized and threw a full-blown temper tantrum when we left. Later, he and Matilda hung out at the playground.

Graham was excited to wake up to Auntie Spice and Uncle Adam this morning, in town for Sam and Jessie's wedding. Mazel tov to the Rubins!

65 weeks (aka 15 months).

Graham is 1 1/4 years old today! Quarterly report:
Sleep - Graham sleeps at least 12 (more frequently, 12.5 - 13) hours per night and has consolidated to one nap per day which lasts around 2 hours. He blew his previous longest sleep record out of the water today, snoozing from 7:30 pm last night until noon, when I woke him up.
Food - Graham is a hunger monster. He eats what we eat, plus a few cheese sticks and clementines. His favorite veggies are asparagus and peas; he will eat pretty much any main-course-type foods; and he loves all soft fruits. Bananas are still his favorite food.
Drink - Graham nurses twice a day and otherwise drinks whole milk and water (out of a cup).
Likes - Playing hide & seek, waving at people on the street, babbling nonsense and occasionally sense, impersonating animals (aka, performing for his parents), splashing in the tub, dancing, trash cans, and his musical tool box. He also loves balls, cars, and figures (especially his Sesame Street characters passed down from his Uncle John). Oh, and of course, his buddies, who he is now excited to see!
Dislikes - Manicures and pedicures, diaper changes, leaving the park, and authority.

64 weeks, 6 days.

Graham seems to be tacking his first nap onto his nighttime sleep. He's sleeping much later in the morning (waking up at 8:30 or 9, despite going to bed at 7:30 like usual) and taking just one nap, in the middle of the day. The schedule change is freeing us up to take longer adventures, like today's trip to Prospect Park and stop by our community garden.

Tuesday, May 8, 2012

64 weeks, 4 days.

Graham's friend Bennett came over to play this morning. Graham and Bennett seemed really excited to see each other and played together for Bennett's entire visit, making each other laugh and passing the tools in Graham's tool box back and forth.
