Graham playing his new piano. Musical toys are hands down his favorite right now. Thanks for sending the piano, Grammy! And thanks for the awesome overalls, Uncle Peter and Tiffany!

Graham had a few of his friends over to play this afternoon. I think he's officially crawling now (though he's still slow and gets frustrated, and does much better on carpet than on wood or tile) and he is definitely pulling up. He was very excited and proud of himself when he pulled up to standing by the tub!

Graham tries out his brand new toy, the leapfrog musical table. So far, it is a huge hit!

Graham had a big day of firsts today. He enjoyed various finger foods (usually he prefers a very smooth puree, thank you very much)--grapes, cheddar cheese, scrambled eggs--, pulled up to standing on a few different toys, and really bopped to the beat at music class.

These new accomplishments, along with his continuing efforts to figure out crawling, must be why he has decided this week that naps are 30 - 45 minutes long instead of his previous blissful 2 hour affairs. Fingers crossed that Graham processes these new skills quickly and (all of us) can rest again.

Graham and Daddy demonstrating one of Graham's favorite games--the choo-choo train. Graham braces in "flagpole" position against Daddy's stomach and leads the way for a "chugga-chugga-choo-choo" trip around the apartment.

Graham entertained himself with my keys for an amazingly long time this afternoon. His favorite was hitting the keys against the oven door to make a loud noise. He's into banging in general right now--hitting blocks together (he will hold a block in each hand and bang them together, or will hit a block against one that I'm holding), pots and pans, anything that can be a pseudo-drum.

Daddy cracks up Graham. Thanks for the festive new outfit, Nana!

More quality Graham & Daddy time.

Family trip to the park to celebrate my & Will's 6th dating anniversary (as well as our iphone purchases as anniversary presents to each other).

Graham broke out the fleece and hats for today's chilly weather.

35 weeks, 6 days.

Graham did several consecutive real crawls (on all-fours!) today and continues to improve at army-crawling. He also desperately wants to do a lot of assisted walking--he targets a destination and then, with hand support, staggers towards it like a zombie.

Graham helped Daddy pack for a business trip this morning and then did some hard work of his own--crawling practice.

Peek-a-boo! Still Graham's favorite game.

Graham pulled up to standing for the first today! He was at playgroup with some of his older buddies and may have been inspired by their advanced skills.

Graham is on the move just in time for Nana to take over for the weekend. Looks like they are both in for a good time.

Graham got a kiss from Michael Vick (thanks Uncle Keith & Aunt Sheena!). It must have given him strength, because he started army crawling today! Not very fast and not very far, but moving forward. He also attempted some pull-ups on the crib but luckily hasn't mastered that skill yet.

Graham capped off a great day with a great bath. He is obsessed with the switch for the drain.

Earlier today, Graham was actually able to move himself forward a smidgen by raising his tush and throwing his upper body forward. He is seeming closer and closer to actually crawling.

He also did some pretty advanced eating today--black beans + sweet potatoes + onions + garlic, broccoli and apple for lunch and egg yolk + asparagus + parmigiano + breastmilk + rice along with yogurt + banana + vanilla for dinner. I think the vanilla was his favorite new item.

Happy 8-month birthday, Graham! We celebrated with his friend Lucy, who is just 3 days younger than him.

8 months marks the end of us being cautious about introducing potential allergens to his diet. Bring on the egg whites, wheat & blueberries! For dinner tonight, Graham enjoyed a fall puree of pumpkin, butternut squash and sweet potato, spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg.

Back in Brooklyn with Daddy and Marlon, and beautiful Indian summer weather to boot!

Friday, October 7, 2011

34 weeks.

Graham enjoyed some more play time at Grammy's house and then drove up to Portland, where he took an exciting ride in a shopping cart at the Old Navy. Graham has taken several shopping cart rides on this trip and loved all of them.

Another exciting intro for Graham: my best friend from high school, Sara, and her beautiful daughter, Raya!

Graham made some very important introductions on his first day in Oregon: he met Uncle Peter, Peter's girlfriend Tiffany, and Abby the dog.

He was a great, if very awake, flier. Phew.

Daddy played a special good-bye concert for Graham before he leaves for a week in New Zealand. Graham and I will be spending the week in Oregon. Fingers crossed for good movie options (Will), sleepy babies (Julia) and smooth flights all around.
